Game Stories

In this week's reading task we read about how to build a story for a game and what it's about. The articles make points that the game is not a movie and that it shouldn't be laid out as if it was. The articles also talk about the common mistakes that are found in games that it's not all about dialog and that the story doesn't matter. The story of a game is adding an extra element to the game but that doesn't define the game. Games like gat which have a story you can follow along or free to roam doing whatever you please.

Also from reading these articles, we learn about conflict like most stories. Conflict plays an important part in every story that is being told. Conflict adds the element of making the story more dynamic and interesting. Like what would the Super Mario Bros be without Bowser. There always has to be some type of conflict within the game's story.

Reading these articles made me understand more about making a game and how to not make the game similar to a movie but make it more effective with elements like conflict. The game shouldn't be so tory focused you want to show off more about the game than you do about the story.
